Parking Meters
How to Use a Multi-Space Meter Station

The Lancaster Parking Authority operates, maintains and manages 950 meters located throughout the City but primarily within the Downtown Investment District. The meters are all electronic meters.
Location:
In the Central Core Area which is basically the downtown, the meters require $.25 Cents for 12 minutes. In the areas closest to the Courthouse, there is signage to denote that the meters have a twenty minute limit.
Outside the Core Area, the meters require $.25 Cents for 15 minutes.
Operating Hours:
The meters are in effect from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. The fifteen minute meters are denoted by signs in the area of these meters. By looking through the meter dome, you can also determine the time limit for any meter. Most meters have a two hour limit, but there are specific locations such as areas approximate to the County Courthouse that are twenty minute time duration to insure turnover and allow other to use the meters.
Coins Accepted:
The meters accept Quarters, dimes and nickels and will register the appropriate proportion of time on the meter.
Parking Meter Malfunction:
If a parking meter malfunctions, please call the Parking Authority Office and advise them of the problem. Please give the meter number to determine the location so the meter can be checked. If you receive a ticket at a malfunctioning meter, please call the Lancaster Police Department at 291-4911.
Meter Enforcement Hours:
On-Street Parking Meters are enforced Monday through Saturday 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
Parking Tickets:
Parking Tickets are handled by the Meter Enforcement Aides for the City of Lancaster Police. Read the Instructions on the ticket about options for payment and appeal. Any additional questions, call the traffic division at 291-4911.
Booting/Towing:
Off-street Booting of cars in the garages is handled by the Lancaster Parking Authority. On Street Booting is handled by the City of Lancaster Police Department. All towing is handled by the City of Lancaster Police. If your car is in a garage and booted, call the Parking Authority at 299-0907, If you car is on the street, call the City Police at 291-4911. You will be charged to remove a boot or for towing.
